The Vanguard Sterling Short-Term Money Market Fund (the 'Fund') is designed with a multi-faceted objective: to deliver both stability in investment value and readily available liquidity for its investors. It also seeks to diversify its holdings across assets that typically exhibit varied performance. Crucially, its aim is to optimize income generated from distributions such as interest, rather than relying on an increase in the capital value of its investments. To achieve these goals, the Fund strategically allocates capital into a broad array of short-term money market instruments. These encompass, among others, bank-issued certificates of deposit, corporate commercial paper, fixed and variable rate bonds from both corporate and sovereign entities, short-dated UK Treasury bills, cash deposits, and sophisticated repurchase and reverse repurchase agreements – which involve the temporary buying or selling of securities with a reciprocal obligation to reverse the transaction.
