Description
Samsung SDI Co., Ltd., founded in 1970 and headquartered in Yongin, South Korea, is a prominent global manufacturer and distributor of batteries and advanced electronic materials. The company’s operations are divided into two main segments: Energy Solutions and Electronic Materials. Within its Energy Solutions division, Samsung SDI produces small-format lithium-ion batteries for a broad array of consumer electronics, including laptops, tablets, mobile phones, and wearable devices, alongside power tools, garden equipment, vacuum cleaners, e-bikes, e-scooters, and automotive ignition systems. This segment also supplies comprehensive energy storage systems (ESS) for residential, commercial, utility-scale, and uninterruptible power supply (UPS) applications, as well as for base transceiver stations. Furthermore, it develops and manufactures automotive batteries. The Electronic Materials segment offers a diverse portfolio, including semiconductor products such as spin-on hardmasks, spin-on dielectrics, and epoxy molding compounds. It also provides materials for LCDs, like polarizing films and color photo resists, and for OLEDs, including evaporation materials and thin film encapsulation products. Additionally, this division produces photovoltaic pastes and various other display materials. Beyond these core activities, Samsung SDI is involved in the production and sale of raw materials for rechargeable batteries and strategically invests in new technology ventures. The company maintains a significant international presence, serving markets across South Korea, Europe, China, North America, and other global regions.
