DTE Energy Company, established in Detroit, Michigan, in 1903, operates as a diversified utility provider. Its Electric division is responsible for generating, acquiring, distributing, and selling power to an estimated 2.3 million residential, business, and industrial clients across southeastern Michigan. The company sources electricity from a variety of facilities, including fossil-fuel plants, hydroelectric pumped storage, nuclear reactors, and both wind and other renewable energy installations. This segment manages a vast network that includes approximately 698 distribution substations and 449,800 line transformers. The Gas division procures, stores, transports, distributes, and sells natural gas to around 1.3 million residential, commercial, and industrial customers throughout Michigan. It also offers natural gas storage and transmission capacity. This segment's infrastructure is extensive, featuring approximately 20,000 miles of distribution mains, 1,304,000 service pipelines, 1,305,000 active meters, and roughly 2,000 miles of transmission pipelines. Through its Power and Industrial Projects segment, DTE Energy provides metallurgical coke, alongside pulverized coal and petroleum coke, to various industries such as steel and pulp and paper. This unit also delivers critical services including power, steam, and chilled water generation, wastewater treatment, and compressed air supply to industrial clients. Finally, the Energy Trading segment is involved in the marketing and trading of power, natural gas, and environmental commodities. It executes structured transactions and strategically optimizes its agreements for natural gas pipeline transportation and storage assets.
