Entergy Corporation is an American energy firm primarily engaged in the generation and retail distribution of electricity across the United States. Its operations are structured into two key divisions: Utility and Entergy Wholesale Commodities. The Utility segment is responsible for the full scope of electric power services—from generation and transmission to distribution and sales—in designated areas of Arkansas, Louisiana, Mississippi, and Texas, including New Orleans. This division also manages natural gas distribution. Serving approximately 3 million utility customers, this segment delivers electricity throughout these states. In contrast, the Entergy Wholesale Commodities segment concentrates on the ownership, operation, and eventual decommissioning of nuclear power plants. It also holds stakes in non-nuclear power facilities that supply power to wholesale buyers and offers specialized services to other nuclear plant proprietors. Entergy's diverse energy portfolio for electricity generation includes natural gas, nuclear power, coal, hydroelectric, and solar sources. The company distributes its energy to a wide array of clients, such as retail power providers, public utilities, electric power cooperatives, energy trading firms, and other power generation companies. Collectively, the corporation's power plants possess an approximate generating capacity of 26,000 megawatts (MW), with 6,000 MW originating from nuclear sources. Founded in 1913, Entergy's headquarters are located in New Orleans, Louisiana.
