PG&E Corporation, operating primarily through its subsidiary Pacific Gas and Electric Company, is responsible for supplying electricity and natural gas to consumers throughout northern and central California in the United States. Its power generation portfolio draws from diverse sources, including nuclear, hydroelectric, fossil fuels, fuel cells, and solar (photovoltaic) technologies. As of December 31, 2021, the company managed a vast infrastructure network. This included approximately 18,000 circuit miles of interconnected transmission lines, supported by 33 electric transmission substations. Its distribution system featured roughly 108,000 circuit miles of lines, complemented by 67 transmission switching substations and 753 distribution substations. Additionally, its natural gas operations comprised an extensive system for transmission, storage, and distribution, incorporating about 43,800 miles of distribution pipelines, around 6,200 miles of backbone and local transmission pipelines, and various storage sites.
