Description
Energy Transfer LP, established in 1996 and headquartered in Dallas, Texas, functions as a diversified provider of energy-related services. The company manages an extensive natural gas network, encompassing approximately 11,600 miles of transportation pipelines, 19,830 miles of interstate pipelines, and five natural gas storage facilities situated across Texas and Oklahoma. It supplies natural gas to a broad range of clients, including electric utilities, independent power producers, local distribution companies, marketing firms, and industrial consumers. Its operations further include significant infrastructure for natural gas gathering, processing, and natural gas liquids (NGL) across multiple states, specifically Texas, New Mexico, West Virginia, Pennsylvania, Ohio, Oklahoma, Arkansas, Kansas, and Louisiana. This infrastructure comprises NGL pipelines, processing plants, and treating/conditioning facilities. The company also operates natural gas gathering, oil pipelines, and stabilization facilities in South Texas, as well as a dedicated natural gas gathering system in Ohio. Energy Transfer additionally offers water transport and supply services to natural gas producers in Pennsylvania. The NGL segment features approximately 5,215 miles of pipelines, NGL and propane fractionation facilities, and substantial storage capacity, including 50 million barrels of working storage and an additional 17 million barrels within other storage assets and terminals. Energy Transfer is actively involved in crude oil transportation, terminalling, acquisition, and marketing, alongside the distribution and sale of refined products such as gasoline, middle distillates, and motor fuels. Other specialized services provided include natural gas compression, removal of carbon dioxide and hydrogen sulfide, natural gas cooling, dehydration, and British thermal unit (BTU) management. Furthermore, the company oversees coal and natural resource properties, sells standing timber, leases coal-related infrastructure, collects oil and gas royalties, and generates electrical power. The company, formerly known as Energy Transfer Equity, L.P., adopted its current name in October 2018.
