Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Limited (HPCL) is an Indian energy company with both domestic and international operations, focusing primarily on refining crude oil and marketing a diverse range of petroleum products. HPCL supplies various fuels, including petrol, diesel, kerosene, liquefied petroleum gas (LPG), naphtha, and aviation turbine fuel. Beyond fuels, the company offers a comprehensive portfolio of lubricants, specialized oils, greases, bitumen, solvents, marine lubricants, household insecticides, and industrial chemicals such as hexane, propylene, and molten sulphur. It also engages in international trade, facilitating the import of crude oil and the import/export of petroleum products, alongside managing associated shipping logistics. The company caters to major industrial consumers in sectors like power generation, chemicals, fertilizers, shipping, and airlines, providing them with bulk fuels and other petroleum derivatives. For retail and industrial clients, HPCL distributes LPG under its "HP Gas" brand and operates an extensive network of petrol stations. Additionally, it maintains pipelines for the efficient transportation of its products. Diversifying beyond its core refining and marketing operations, HPCL is active in the exploration and production of hydrocarbons, offering related management services. It has also ventured into renewable energy and biofuels, managing sugar ethanol-cogen plants in Bihar and wind power facilities in Maharashtra and Rajasthan. As of March 31, 2022, HPCL boasted a vast operational infrastructure, including 137 regional offices, 70 depots, 53 LPG bottling plants, 47 aviation service facilities, over 20,000 retail outlets, more than 1,600 SKO/light diesel oil dealers, and over 6,200 LPG distributors.
