Description

Globally, Rheinmetall AG is a technology group that delivers advanced solutions to both the mobility and security sectors. Its operations are structured into five distinct business units: Vehicle Systems, Weapon and Ammunition, Electronic Solutions, Sensors and Actuators, and Materials and Trade. The Vehicle Systems division manufactures a wide array of specialized vehicles, encompassing combat, support, and logistical platforms. This includes armored tracked vehicles, chemical, biological, radiological, and nuclear (CBRN) defense systems, advanced turret systems, and both wheeled logistical and tactical transport vehicles. Within the Weapon and Ammunition segment, the focus is on delivering precise, effective, and threat-specific firepower and defensive capabilities. Their offerings comprise large and medium-bore weapons and their associated munitions, integrated weapon stations, comprehensive protection systems, and propellants and powders. The Electronic Solutions division specializes in networked system chains, integrating sensors, communication platforms, automated effectors for military personnel, and robust cyberspace protection. It also provides extensive training and simulation tools. Key products from this segment span air defense platforms, soldier-worn systems, command, control, and reconnaissance (C2R) systems, precision fire control systems, various sensors, and simulation technologies tailored for army, air force, naval, and civilian uses. Through its Sensors and Actuators unit, Rheinmetall supplies a diverse product range. This includes exhaust gas recirculation (EGR) systems, throttle valves, control dampers, and exhaust flaps designed for electromotors, as well as solenoid valves, and complete actuator and valve train systems. Additionally, they produce oil, water, and vacuum pumps for a broad spectrum of applications, from passenger cars and commercial vehicles to light and heavy-duty off-road machinery, alongside various industrial solutions. The Materials and Trade segment concentrates on developing fundamental engine components, such as engine blocks, structural parts, and cylinder heads. It also produces plain bearings, bushes, and a variety of replacement parts, actively engaging in the aftermarket sector. Founded in 1889 and headquartered in Düsseldorf, Germany, the company was initially known as Rheinmetall Berlin AG before adopting its current name, Rheinmetall AG, in 1996.
