Description
GS Engineering & Construction Corporation, founded in Seoul, South Korea, in 1969, is a global enterprise providing extensive construction and engineering solutions. The company's diverse activities span civil engineering, architectural development, residential housing construction and sales, general building, repair and maintenance, and technology advisory services, catering to both domestic and international markets. Its operations are strategically organized across four main divisions: Infrastructure, Architectural & Housing, Industrial Plant Construction, and 'Other' ventures. The Infrastructure division is responsible for major public works, including roads, railways, water management systems like reservoirs, port facilities, industrial zones, subterranean constructions, and privately funded infrastructure initiatives. The Architectural & Housing segment specializes in the development and marketing of various building types, from residential properties to office complexes and manufacturing plants. The Industrial Plant Construction division undertakes the creation of petroleum refineries, gas and petrochemical facilities, and waste and water treatment plants. This segment also plays a crucial role in developing and constructing diverse power generation assets, including combined cycle, nuclear, coal-fired, and renewable energy plants, alongside high-voltage electrical substations, power transmission and distribution networks, and communication and railway infrastructure. The 'Other' segment focuses on building cultural institutions, hotels, recreational venues, and integrated sports complexes, in addition to engaging in leasing and related business activities. Furthermore, GS Engineering & Construction offers a suite of complementary services, such as the development and ongoing management of home network systems, resort upkeep, plant operational and maintenance support, IT consulting, and comprehensive real estate services. The company, which originally operated as LG Engineering & Construction Co., Ltd., adopted its current name in March 2005.
