CenterPoint Energy, Inc. functions as a leading public utility holding company within the United States, conducting its diverse business through two main operational areas: Electric and Natural Gas. The Electric division handles the transmission, distribution, and generation of electricity, in addition to managing assets within the wholesale power market. Its Natural Gas division provides essential natural gas distribution services and, specifically in Minnesota, offers home appliance maintenance and repair. This segment also extends home repair protection plans to natural gas customers in Arkansas, Indiana, Mississippi, Ohio, Oklahoma, Texas, and Louisiana, via a third-party partner. Furthermore, it engages in the regulated intrastate sale, transportation, and storage of natural gas for residential, commercial, industrial, and transportation clients. By the end of 2021, CenterPoint Energy catered to approximately 2.7 million metered customers. Its extensive infrastructure included 239 substation sites with a combined transformer capacity of 71,241 megavolt amperes, nearly 100,000 linear miles of natural gas distribution and transmission mains, and 285 miles of intrastate pipeline across Louisiana, Texas, and Oklahoma. The company was founded in 1866 and maintains its headquarters in Houston, Texas.
