Description

General Dynamics Corporation stands as a prominent global entity in the aerospace and defense industries, operating through four distinct divisions: Aerospace, Marine Systems, Combat Systems, and Technologies. The Aerospace division focuses on the design, manufacturing, and sale of business jets, complemented by a comprehensive suite of services including aircraft maintenance, repair, management, charter operations, completion services, and fixed-base operator support. Its Marine Systems segment is responsible for constructing advanced naval vessels such as nuclear submarines, surface warships, and auxiliary ships for the U.S. Navy, while also building commercial vessels like Jones Act ships, crude oil and product tankers, and various cargo carriers. This segment further provides extensive maintenance, modernization, lifecycle support, engineering, and program management services for both submarine and surface fleets. The Combat Systems division develops and produces a wide array of land-based defense solutions, including wheeled and tracked combat vehicles (like Stryker and Piranha), weapons systems, munitions, mobile bridging solutions, tactical vehicles, main battle tanks, and other armored vehicles and armaments, alongside offering crucial modernization, engineering, and sustainment programs. Lastly, the Technologies segment provides sophisticated information technology solutions and critical mission support to military, intelligence, and federal civilian clients. Its capabilities span mobile communications, computing, command-and-control systems, and intelligence, surveillance, and reconnaissance solutions. This division also innovates in areas such as cloud computing, artificial intelligence, machine learning, big data analytics, DevSecOps, software-defined networks, "everything-as-a-service" models, defense enterprise office systems, and the manufacturing and assembly of unmanned undersea vehicles. General Dynamics Corporation was founded in 1899 and is headquartered in Reston, Virginia.
