Valero Energy Corporation is a prominent player in the global energy sector, primarily engaged in the production, marketing, and distribution of transportation fuels and petrochemical products. Its operational reach extends across the United States, Canada, the United Kingdom, Ireland, and various other international markets. The company's business model is organized around three core segments: Refining, Renewable Diesel production, and Ethanol manufacturing. Valero's diverse product portfolio encompasses a wide array of fuel types, including conventional, premium, and reformulated gasolines, as well as specialized gasoline meeting California Air Resources Board (CARB) specifications. It also produces various grades of diesel fuels, such as low-sulfur, ultra-low-sulfur, and CARB-compliant diesel, alongside other distillates, jet fuels, blendstocks, and asphalt. Additionally, Valero manufactures petrochemicals and lubricants, and sells lube oils and natural gas liquids. As of December 31, 2021, Valero commanded significant operational assets, including 15 petroleum refineries with a combined processing capacity of approximately 3.2 million barrels per day. The company also operated 12 ethanol plants, boasting an annual production capacity of roughly 1.6 billion gallons. Valero distributes its refined products through an extensive network that includes wholesale rack and bulk markets, complemented by approximately 7,000 retail outlets operating under well-known brands such as Valero, Beacon, Diamond Shamrock, Shamrock, Ultramar, and Texaco. Beyond fuels, its ethanol segment produces and sells ethanol, dry distiller grains, syrup, and inedible corn oil, largely catering to the animal feed industry. The corporation also owns and operates a comprehensive logistics infrastructure, which includes pipelines for crude oil and refined petroleum products, storage terminals, tanks, marine docks, and truck loading bays. Furthermore, Valero operates a specialized plant dedicated to converting sustainable feedstocks like animal fats, used cooking oils, and inedible distillers corn oils into renewable diesel. Originally founded in 1980, Valero Energy Corporation established its headquarters in San Antonio, Texas. The company adopted its current name in August 1997, having previously been known as Valero Refining and Marketing Company.
