Companies are considered to be in an emerging market if they are organized under, or have their principal office in, an emerging country; have their principal securities market in an emerging country; derive 50% or more of their revenue from goods produced, sales made, or services provided in emerging countries; or maintain 50% or more of their assets in emerging countries.
