The fund's main objective is to generate current income, with capital appreciation serving as a secondary goal. Typically, at least 80% of its net assets, including any funds borrowed for investment purposes, are allocated to various equity and equity-related securities. These investments span U.S. common stocks, American Depositary Receipts (ADRs), foreign stocks traded in U.S. dollars on U.S. exchanges, income trusts, Master Limited Partnerships (MLPs), preferred stocks, and Real Estate Investment Trusts (REITs). The strategy allows for investments in large- and mid-capitalization companies, usually maintaining a concentrated portfolio of 30 to 40 distinct issuers.
