This fund primarily allocates at least 80% of its total assets—including any funds acquired through borrowing for investment—to equity instruments issued by smaller companies. Its equity portfolio is diverse, comprising common and preferred shares, as well as equity-linked instruments like convertible securities, stock futures, and options. The fund may also invest in other investment companies, American Depositary Receipts (ADRs), Real Estate Investment Trusts (REITs), and Exchange Traded Funds (ETFs). The advisor is also permitted to engage in private placements for these asset types. For the purpose of this fund, 'small companies' are generally defined as those with a market capitalization below $6 billion at the time of purchase.
