Description
Chevron Corporation is a global enterprise engaged in comprehensive energy and chemical operations. The company's activities are divided into two primary divisions: Upstream and Downstream. The Upstream segment is dedicated to the exploration, development, production, and transportation of crude oil and natural gas. This includes the full spectrum of liquefied natural gas (LNG) operations, from processing and liquefaction to transportation and regasification, alongside crude oil pipeline transport, and the storage, movement, and marketing of natural gas. It also manages a facility that converts natural gas into liquids. The Downstream segment focuses on refining crude oil into petroleum products, along with the marketing of crude oil, refined goods, and lubricants. It is also involved in the creation and distribution of renewable fuels, the transportation of crude and refined products via pipelines, marine vessels, road vehicles, and rail, and the manufacturing and sale of bulk petrochemicals, plastics for industrial applications, and additives for fuels and lubricants. Additionally, Chevron manages its own cash and debt financing, insurance services, real estate holdings, and technology development. Founded in 1879, Chevron Corporation, headquartered in San Ramon, California, was formerly known as ChevronTexaco Corporation before adopting its current name in 2005.
