This index tracks the performance of significant and mid-sized companies based in developed European countries. All included companies operate exclusively within the Health Care sector, as categorized by the Global Industry Classification Standard (GICS). Constituent weighting is determined by free-float adjusted market capitalization, following MSCI's Capped Indexes framework. This system ensures that the largest corporate group within the index does not exceed 35%, while all other affiliated entities are capped at 20%, with a 10% tolerance applied to these limits during scheduled and any necessary ad-hoc monthly rebalances. The index incorporates stringent ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance) screening, leading to the exclusion of several types of issuers. This includes companies involved in controversial weapons, those with an MSCI ESG Rating of 'CCC' or no rating at all, and entities generating certain revenue thresholds from tobacco, conventional or nuclear weapons, civilian firearms, thermal coal, unconventional or arctic oil and gas extraction, or palm oil. Furthermore, any issuer with an MSCI Controversies Score of zero is also omitted. A key characteristic of this index is its aim for a lower greenhouse gas intensity compared to its underlying parent index. For comprehensive information on the index's design, selection criteria, and weighting rules, please refer to the MSCI website.
