Concurrently, the Gas Transmission and Midstream division is focused on investing in natural gas pipelines, along with gathering and processing facilities across both Canadian and American territories. Delivering natural gas utility services is the purview of the Gas Distribution and Storage segment, which supplies residential, commercial, and industrial customers primarily in Ontario, and conducts additional distribution activities in Quebec. Initially established in 1949, the company was known as IPL Energy Inc. until it adopted the name Enbridge Inc. in October 1998. Its corporate headquarters are based in Calgary, Canada.
