This fund primarily allocates its assets to income-generating fixed-income instruments, preferred shares, and convertible securities, with a particular focus on higher-yielding, below investment-grade debt. The portfolio typically targets securities rated BB or B by Standard & Poor's (S&P) or Ba or B by Moody's Investors Service (Moody's), or those with comparable ratings from other recognized credit agencies. For unrated holdings, Fidelity Management & Research Company (FMR) assesses them to be of equivalent credit quality. To manage interest rate risk, the fund maintains a relatively short duration, generally three years or less.
