This fund aims to generate significant capital appreciation. It typically commits a minimum of 80% of its total assets to equity securities of companies operating in developing economies. The sub-advisers consider "emerging market" companies to be those primarily based or listed in such markets, or businesses that generate over half their revenue or profits from these regions, or hold more than 50% of their assets within them. The types of equity investments permitted include common stock, preferred stock, and various depositary receipts. While the fund has the latitude to invest in companies across the entire spectrum of market capitalizations, it generally prioritizes mid to large-cap enterprises.
