Lifecore Biomedical, Inc. (LFCR) operates as a multifaceted contract development and manufacturing organization (CDMO) with a global presence, conducting business through its various subsidiaries. The company's operations are divided into three core segments: Lifecore, Curation Foods, and Other. The Lifecore division is primarily responsible for the production of pharmaceutical-grade sodium hyaluronate (HA) in bulk quantities. It also handles the formulation and sterile filling of syringes and vials containing injectable medications used to treat diverse medical ailments and conditions. Beyond manufacturing, this segment provides a comprehensive suite of CDMO services to its partners. These include the development of new technologies and formulations, analytical method creation, oversight of material component modifications, execution of pilot and stability studies, validation of manufacturing processes, and the production of materials for clinical trials. This extensive support is offered for both HA-based and non-HA products that necessitate aseptic formulation and filling. Furthermore, the Lifecore segment markets its non-HA medical offerings mainly to the ophthalmic (eye care), orthopedic (bone and joint), and other specialized healthcare sectors. The Curation Foods segment focuses on the production, marketing, and distribution of food products. This includes olive oils and wine vinegars sold under the "O" brand, as well as guacamole and avocado-based items available under the "Yucatan" and "Cabo Fresh" brands, in addition to various private label agreements. Established in 1986, the company was formerly known as Landec Corporation before officially rebranding as Lifecore Biomedical, Inc. in November 2022. Its corporate headquarters are situated in Santa Maria, California.
