This actively managed fund aims to provide both diversification and a steady flow of cash. It primarily invests in Canadian debt instruments, mainly those rated BBB or better. The fund's management strategy is comprehensive, considering interest rate movements, strategic sector and individual security choices, currency dynamics, and broader global market conditions. Although its focus is largely on investment-grade bonds, it retains the flexibility to invest in some lower-rated securities. To manage foreign exchange risk, the fund generally employs forward contracts for hedging, and may also use them to gain international currency exposure with its Canadian dollar holdings. RIFI also strives to boost returns through its currency management and can engage in securities lending for supplementary income. Foreign securities are capped at 30% of the fund's total net assets.
