The fund's core objective is to deliver substantial capital growth over an extended period. To fulfill this aim, it typically allocates a minimum of 80% of its net assets, along with any funds borrowed for investment, to the equity securities—such as common and preferred shares—of small-capitalization companies under ordinary market conditions. For the purpose of this strategy, a small-cap company is defined by its market capitalization at the initial time of purchase: it must be larger than that of the smallest company in the Russell 2000® Index, and smaller than or equal to the higher value between the market capitalization of the largest company in the Russell 2000® Index and $3.0 billion.
