Southwestern Energy Company functions as an independent enterprise focused on the exploration, development, and extraction of natural gas, crude oil, and natural gas liquids (NGLs) throughout the United States. Its business activities are structured into two segments: Exploration and Production, and Marketing. The company primarily concentrates on developing unconventional natural gas and oil deposits located in Pennsylvania, West Virginia, Ohio, and Louisiana. As of December 31, 2021, it controlled approximately 768,050 net acres within the Appalachian region and operated a total of 1,527 producing wells. Its proven reserves at that time consisted of an estimated 21,148 billion cubic feet equivalent (Bcfe) of natural gas, oil, and NGLs.
