TransAlta Corporation is an energy utility specializing in the generation, distribution, and commercialization of electrical power. Its operations are structured across several key divisions: Hydro, Wind and Solar, Gas, Energy Transition, and Energy Marketing. The Hydro segment manages approximately 922 megawatts (MW) of wholly-owned hydroelectric generating assets located in Alberta, British Columbia, and Ontario. This segment also operates the Skookumchuck hydro facility in Centralia and is actively involved in the Highvale mine, including its reclamation activities. Finally, the Energy Marketing segment focuses on the trading of electricity, natural gas, and environmental commodities. TransAlta provides services to a diverse clientele spanning various sectors, such as commercial real estate, municipal services, manufacturing, industrial operations, hospitality, finance, and the oil and gas industries.
